Join business and community leaders at the seventh annual State of the Research Triangle Region forum, set for Thursday, May 27 from 8 to 10 a.m.
Hosted by the Research Triangle Regional Partnership and the Triangle Community Foundation, the event will provide information on the economic health of the 13-county Research Triangle Region, which includes Wake and Johnston counties.
Hundreds are expected to attend this forum, where featured speakers include RTRP Board Chair Bill Atkinson and RTRP President and CEO Charles Hayes.
“The global economic meltdown has taken a toll on companies and communities in our region, as it has on regions around the world,” said Hayes. “Still, our region posted a record $1.9 billion in new investments during 2009 for projects expected to create more than 10,000 new jobs.”
Hayes will report on the region’s competitive position and update the community on results of the region’s five-year economic development strategy, called The Shape of Things to Come. The plan calls for creating 100,000 jobs and boosting employment in all 13 counties in the region.
The forum will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center, 4700 Emperor Blvd., Durham. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $50 for individuals and $450 for a corporate table of 10. Individual registration at $75 per person will be available at the door.
Check-in will begin at 7 a.m. on event day. Breakfast will be served and the program will begin at 8 a.m., with adjournment at 10 a.m.
