Hope Takes Flight

By

Children’s Flight of Hope, a charity that flies children in need of medical attention to hospitals in the Southeast, will be holding two special charity events in the upcoming months.

The 17th Annual Children’s Flight of Hope Golf Classic reception will be held at the Raleigh Country Club on Oct. 18 followed by a golf tournament on Oct.19.

The Carolina Hurricanes General Manager and President Jim Rutherford and the Hurricanes Head Coach Paul Maurice will be among the special guests attending the event. The tournament is open to anyone who would like to participate, and registration ends this week.

Children’s Flight of Hope will host its sixth annual “A Vintage Affair” event on Nov. 5 at Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s General Aviation Terminal. The silent auction fundraiser will be 1940s-themed complete with music from the big band era.

Guests will enjoy food provided by Second Empire, Jimmy V’s Steakhouse, Bistro 64 and many other Triangle restaurants while sampling wines provided by the Wine Authorities in Durham.

Last year’s A Vintage Affair raised more than $85,000. All proceeds will go directly to this nonprofit organization to benefit the children who otherwise couldn’t afford the flights for treatment. Many of the children are burn victims or suffer from illnesses and impairments such as nueroblastoma, a common child cancer.
