Event Description: 
HopeLine Inc., a Triangle-based nonprofit providing free suicide prevention and crisis intervention help through its crisis line and Teen TalkLine, along with Rival Skateboarding, will host the second annual Skate for Life event on Saturday, May 19 (rain date of May 20), from 11 a.m. until dusk at Marsh Creek Skate Park at 3016 North New Hope Road in Raleigh. The skateboarding competition will be held in honor of James “Dylan” McNeill (6/4/92-2/1/11) and Cody Nelson Arrington (7/12/92-9/28/11), two local teenagers, best friends and skateboarders who tragically ended their own lives. Skate for Life will feature deejays, a b-boy competition, graffiti artists, raffle prizes, food, vendors and more. Admission is free to the public. The cost of registration to skate is $10 and includes a raffle ticket and T-shirt. The winner of the advanced competition receives $250 cash, with beginner and intermediate levels receiving skate gear. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. the day of the event.
