Choices for Your Health

By Tara Croft

With all the top-notch hospitals in the Triangle, Western Wake seems pretty set from a health care perspective. But more and more, people are starting to embrace nontraditional alternative forms of medicine to take their health and wellness into their own hands.

In light of the wintery weather predicted this weekend, The Health Choices Marketplace that was originally scheduled for this weekend at the Kerr Scott Building at N.C. State Fairgrounds has been rescheduled for Feb. 20-21 at the Exposition Center at the fairgrounds. It will showcase representatives from local providers of natural, alternative, holistic and integrative health services.

The marketplace is centered around the idea that health is a choice, not an accident — intentional, not incidental. Come out to connect with supporters of acupuncture, aromatherapy, chiropractic medicine, holistic medicine, reflexology, osteopathic medicine and many more forms of alternative health care.

Other topics being represented at the marketplace include finding health-promoting options for organic farms and lawn care, children’s care, hair salons, schools and groceries, plus numerous other resources.

The Health Choices Marketplace will be held on Feb 20 10 a.m.–6 p.m. and Feb. 21 noon–6 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, and kids younger than 12 are free.

The days are packed with symposiums on a variety of topics from nutrition to naturopathic medicine to massage. For a complete symposium schedule and additional information on the marketplace, visit www.healthchoicesmarketplace.com
