Children’s Flight of Hope Benefit

Children’s Flight of Hope teamed up with Triangle businesses to raise more than $85,000 to help fly ill and injured children to hospitals and medical facilities in the eastern United States. An additional $57,000 was also raised to help pay for the plane that is used to transport the children for free.

“Tonight’s festivities will enable us to fly multiple missions, which means many seriously ill children will receive the medical treatment they need. We are so fortunate to have so many people who care about making a difference in the lives of the families,” said Amy Carver, executive director at Children’s Flight of Hope.

The night was filled with wine tasting provided by the Wine Authorities of Durham and delicious food from Triangle restaurants Bistro 64, The Melting Pot, Jimmy V’s Steakhouse & Tavern, The Mint, Rey’s Restaurant, Rockfish, Second Empire and Il Palio. Silent and live auctions were held and live music from the big band era was provided by the NC Revelers Orchestra.

The event was hosted by the voice of the Carolina Hurricanes, John Forslund, who made his own donation of box seats to a Hurricanes game and a personal meet and greet with the winner’s player of choice.

“I think Children’s Flight of Hope is very unique; the people who donate answer at the drop of a hat to help,” Forslund stated. “Every charity is special, but this one is a slam dunk.”
