Dorcas Ministries

Website: www.dorcas-cary.org

About:

To provide residents of its designated service area emergency assistance for their essential human needs, including shelter, clothing, food, fuel, transportation and medical care. This care is enhanced with childcare and educational assistance scholarships.

In addition to emergency financial assistance, Dorcas Ministries also offers several tools to help our clients become self reliant and prevent the recurrence of financial crises.

The Dorcas Crisis Ministry exists to serve local residents who find themselves in a temporary financial crisis, using proceeds from the Dorcas Thrift Shop. Assistance may be given with past-due necessary bills such as utilities, prescription medicine, or housing expenses (rent/mortgage). Residents of Cary and Morrisville may also receive food assistance from the Dorcas Ministries Food Pantry. Durable medical equipment supplies (that is, walkers, crutches, canes, or bedside commodes) are provided free of charge when in stock.

The Dorcas Thrift Shop is located at 187 High House Road in Cary. Dorcas aims to create a hub for nonprofit organizations in the shopping center.
