It’s that special time of year again: Cary Visual Art opens its annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in Downtown Cary, beginning Friday, July 18.

Come out to view the installation of a dozen works, created by nationally-known artists, along Academy Street in Downtown Cary. The installations of the sculptures begins at 8 a.m. on July 18, on the Cary Town Hall campus.

This year’s exhibition features a cell phone audio tour, described by the exhibiting artists, for individuals with disabilities. Exhibition brochures will be available at the Cary Arts Center, the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, and throughout Cary.

A kids’ craft table will be available from 10 a.m. to noon, attended by volunteers from CVA and the Cary Teen Council.

That night, Cary Visual Art will host an artists’ opening reception for the exhibition from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Cary Arts Center, located at 101 Dry Ave.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists along with Renee Piechocki, this year’s juror and a public art consultant from Pittsburgh, Pa., who will announce the Best in Show prize. The artist awarded Best in Show will receive a $3,000 grand prize.

Local fare by Belle at the Jones House, and beverages including beer from Cary's Fortnight Brewing Company and wine by Winebow, will be served.

Tickets for the reception are $40 and are available at the door, at the Cary Arts Center, or through caryvisualart.org. You may call (919) 531-2821 or (919) 531-2821 for more information.

The 12-piece exhibition will be on display from Friday, July 18 through July 12, 2015.

This marks the seventh year that Cary Visual Art has hosted the exhibition, and its 18th year serving as the nonprofit public art organization for the Cary community.
