The Main Event

Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, will host the Main Event on Saturday, June 27, noted as the Southeast’s largest charitable concert.

The musical lineup includes:

The energetic Michael Franti & Spearhead, sharing their multi-platinum success of "Say Hey (I Love You)" and “I’m Alive (Life Sounds Like)”;

Big Sam’s Funky Nation, which has shared the stage the likes of U2, Green Day, Dave Matthews, Ozomatli and Widespread Panic, bringing a combo of urban funk, jazz and rock;

Elliot Root, part of Franti & Spearhead’s “Once a Day” Tour, offering an American alternative sound; and

Fat Cheek Kat, winner of the 2015 Last Band Standing contest, featuring high-energy horn and guitar-driven funk with equal amounts of soul.

This year marks the first time Band Together’s fundraising concert will be held at Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh. Concerts begin at 5 p.m.

Proceeds from the Main Event will go toward sustaining StepUp Ministry Raleigh, establishing StepUp North Carolina (a parent organization), and starting StepUp Ministry in Durham.

Through community support, corporate and individual donations and dedicated volunteers, Band Together and StepUp Ministry have a fundraising goal of $2 million.

Tickets for the Main Event concert are $20 for lawn seating to $40 for premium reserve seating; VIP tickets are $195 and include exclusive access to catered food and beverage, premier viewing of the main stage, a silent auction and artists’ village access.

Tickets can be purchased at etix.com.
