Jazzy, Baby

Close the streets and start the party — it’s the fourth annual Apex Jazz and Music Festival!

Jazz, rock and blues are in the air in downtown Apex this Saturday, Sept. 20, as both indoor and outdoor venues crank out entertainment, foods and festivities along Salem Street.

“Every year, this event gets bigger and better,” said Blaine East, one of the event’s volunteer coordinators. “Last year, we had more than 10,000 people from not just the local region but from surrounding states, come to have a great time.

“This year’s attendees will enjoy an even more festival-like atmosphere since we are able to close the streets. People will be able to walk around and mill in the street, so it will be a lot more wide open than in previous years.”

In addition to the music, the festival offers shopping at local specialty stores, sidewalk performances, and a range of culinary delights from downtown restaurants and outdoor food vendors.

Here’s the Main Stage entertainment schedule at the Beer and Wine Garden; doors open at 3 p.m., and you must be 21 or over to enter.

MikeMickXer, 3:30 p.m.
