Belly Stuffed? Share the Wealth

Feeling fortunate this Thanksgiving? Then share the wealth with our neighbors who don’t have quite as much reason to celebrate.

For example, the Thanksgiving Meal Collection takes place this Sunday, Nov. 24, benefiting families served by Western Wake Crisis Ministry.

It’s easy to give: Get together with family or friends and place the following grocery items — at an estimated cost of $40 — into a paper bag or box.

On Sunday, drop the bag off at WWCM offices at 103 E. Chatham St. in Apex, behind Anna's Pizzeria.

1 large box stuffing mix

2 cans vegetables (green beans, peas, corn)

1 large can sweet potatoes

1 large box dry potatoes

1 pound butter or margarine

1 dry boxed dinner rolls or cornbread mix

1 dry boxed pie pastry mix, optional

1 can pie fruit filling, optional

1 3-pound bag onions

1 3-pound bag apples or oranges

1 dozen eggs

$10 toward the purchase of a turkey

The $10 reimburses participating grocery stores for their help with the meals, eliminates the need for you to haul turkeys all over town, and saves precious freezer storage space at WWCM.

And, the Apex Police Department has volunteered to help wtih distribution of the meals to needy families.

Not a shopper? No problem — cash and check donations are appreciated too.
