Organic Fashion
Going green gets fashionable this week at Uniquities and Uniquities Mix fashion boutiques.
In honor of Earth Day, the three Triangle stores will host Uniquities Green Designer Week from April 17 to 24. The stores will offer new collections of designer jeans and T-shirts that are made with organic fabrics.
The stores will also give away a canvas tote free with any purchase. Customers get $2 off any future purchases made when shopping with the tote.
"We're really excited to show our customers that you can be green and fashionable at the same time," said Uniquities owner Julie Jennings. "Designers are starting to work with organic materials, and we now have the opportunity to introduce our customers to clothing that's both hip and sustainable. It's amazing to see these new fashion choices that weren't available last year or even a few months ago."
Jennings said that fashion retail stores have been slow to incorporate green practices, but Uniquities wants to start moving in that direction. Each store will hang "Tips to Love the Planet" posters that feature ways to lessen your impact on the environment.
"It's not possible for our stores or our customers to be environmentally perfect, but every little bit each of us can do individually can have an impact on the world we live in," she said.
Uniquities has two locations: on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill and in Cameron Village Shopping Center in Raleigh. Uniquities Mix is located in North Hills Raleigh.
